Sewing machines can be a bit intimidating. Like any other tool, once you become familiar with its pieces and parts you will have more success (and fun!) using it to your advantage. In this introductory course, Perennial staff will cover the basic parts and functions of the sewing machine. This crash course will cover threading the machine, threading the bobbin, adjusting tension, adjusting the stitch width and length, and will introduce you to basic sewing language.

Hi, I'm Jenny

Jenny is an artist and social entrepreneur whose work spans the categories of design, installation, community arts and more. She founded the St. Louis creative reuse organization Perennial in 2011, and is so excited to continue to be a part of this community as a teaching artist! Outside of teaching, Jenny runs a mini “fake-up” company NOT MAKEUP, works at Garrity Tools, and is constantly dreaming up new ideas for alternative economies and creative communities in her studio.

When she isn’t busy making, organizing, or teaching you can find her digging in her garden or playing games with her partner and their daughter.
